About
Gordon Chu, M.D., is a neurosurgeon with a specialization in minimally invasive spine surgery and complex spinal procedures, including those involving tumors and degenerative diseases.
He received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, and then completed his neurosurgical residency at the Montreal Neurological Institute, affiliated with McGill University School of Medicine in Montreal.
Following completion of his neurological training, Dr. Chu went on to pursue advanced training and research in spinal surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures and spinal cord injury at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Chu is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the neurotrauma fellowship from the Joint Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Synthes Award for Research on Spinal Cord and Spinal Column Injury, among others.
He has authored several peer-reviewed scientific publications in various journals, including Neuroscience and the Journal of Neurotrauma, and has lectured on his research in neurosurgery in the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Columbia.
Before joining Laredo Medical Center, Dr. Chu practiced neurosurgery in Illinois. During that time, he has participated in level 1 and level 2 trauma programs.
Dr. Chu is accepting new patients ages 18 and up.
