About
David F. Bruni, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon with a specialization in sports medicine & shoulder reconstructive surgery. Born in Laredo, Texas, Dr. Bruni is a proud graduate of John B. Alexander High School.
Through his sports medicine training, Dr. Bruni has provided care for both professional and D-1 collegiate athletic programs, including the University of Texas Longhorn Athletics, Austin Bold FC, Providence Bruins, USA Gymnastics, Brown University Athletics and the University of Rhode Island Athletics. He has authored several peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters, including serving as a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine, and has presented at national and international conferences on both operative and non-operative orthopedic care. A dedicated educator, he has also served as an instructor of various courses in arthroscopy surgical techniques through the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Driven by a commitment to underserved communities, Dr. Bruni has participated in medical mission trips to Mexico and Honduras, and his current research focuses on improving musculoskeletal care delivery in these populations. He is active in several professional organizations, including the American Medical Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, among others, and was selected to the Emerging Leaders of the American Orthopedic Association.
The addition of Dr. Bruni to the medical staff at Laredo Medical Center enhances access to specialized musculoskeletal care for patients in the community and across the region. Dr. Bruni is accepting new patients, ages 10 and up.
